I think I remember someone else having a similar problem a long time ago, so I hope it's not too obvious... I'm using SuperClock 3.9 under System 7. When I went in to set the alarm clock, and it went off, my Apple icon on the menu bar turned all black, as in 1-bit color. In fact, everything turned 1-bit, including the folder and file icons, etc. When I went in to the Monitors cdev, I clicked on 16 color and then 256 color and everything was rectified EXCEPT I still have the black apple. Incidentally, I have an Apple gray-scale monitor, and the apple gets its color back if I click "colors" instead of "grays" in the Monitors cdev. How can I get the shades of gray with the "grays" setting? Mac IIcx 4/40, Apple 8-bit color card, new 12" mono monitor. Thanks ! Ralph Gonzalez (rgonzal@elbereth.rutgers.edu)
