I'm beginning to suspect that some of the font-related problems I'm having with System 7.0 may be related to my (third-generation) copy of "Install 1" disk. While it is ftp-ing, here are my symptoms. Has anyone else seen these? 1. Install 1 works correctly when not used to boot (i.e., booting fails with a partial bomb dialog (most of the text missing) when I boot from the floppy, but I've installed 7.0 a few times when running from a hard-disk-booted system). 2. Several of the dialogs that occur in various cdevs and applications have text cropped (from the bottom or side. For example, Extensions Manager's 1.0 dialog ends with "hold the space bar down while". 3. Suitcase II 1.2.10 doesn't allow me to "Open All" font suitcases, but I can "Open" each one individually. Those are the ones I can recall offhand. Anyone else seen these? I am running on a Mac II, 8MB memory, PMMU (no virtual mem, though), original ROMs. Just about everything else seems to work fine -- although like one previous poster, The TypeBook 2.0.5 also seems to spit out partial text for nearly all TrueType fonts I have (particularly Chicago, Monaco, Geneva, and New York). I'm also running ATM 2.0 (but I've noticed the relevant symptoms when not using ATM and Suitcase II as well). --Frank Malczewski (fdm@wlv.imsd.contel.com)
