* It sure would be convenient if I could click a connected user's icon in the File Sharing Monitor and Get Info about him. My Mac could request and display all the Responder info from the connected user's Mac. If the other user isn't running Responder (or System 7) it could at least tell me his node number and zone. This would be a great way for me to identify all these <Guest>s that connect to my system. And, I wouldn't need to buy Inter*Poll. * And while you're at it, Apple, how about allowing me to send a message to a connected user ("I need to switch CD-ROMs; be back in a sec."). * As for the people who can't rename folders that have been unshared, it seems that FileShare forgets to turn off the "System" bit on the folder. You can turn the bit off with ResEdit's "Get File/Folder Info" command. I guess that's the price you pay for being an indian giver :-). * Now what's the solution to the "not all volumes were available for sharing" error? (To recap: insert a CD-ROM such as "Lord of the Files"; start file sharing; select the CD-ROM; choose "Sharing"; you get the above message, paraphrased.) I've tried trashing the PDF file for the CD-ROM. I've even tried reinstalling File Sharing. I can't get it to work no how no way. Note that it shares the System 7.0 CD-ROM just fine. Is it possible to create a CD-ROM that FileShare will turn up its nose at? --Michael =============================================================== Michael Hecht Internet: hecht@sas.com SAS Institute Inc.; Cary, NC USA AppleLink: SAS.HECHT
