[comp.sys.mac.system] System 7 icons and my hard drive

I have a question about changing my hard drive icon under 7.
I have a 200meg Maxtor formatted with DMM 2.2.4.
System 7 runs very well.
I am trying to give my hard drive a custom icon.
I open my colour icon file and open the icon and select it all.
I do a get info on the drive and select the current drive icon.
The edit menu then shows copy only, not copy and paste and clear.
If I do this with other drives (eg syquests) I can change the icon without
difficulty.
Now I also notice that I cannot change the name of this Maxtor
disk. I have tried deactivating the Fileshare system and rebooting without
it but I am still unable to change it. The only way I can change it is via
DiskTop.
Now a quick check of IM VI tells me that there is a bit that can be set in
the disk volume info that stops the name from being changed.
It seems that this has been set on my disk.
Now the questions are:
How did it get set?
How can I change it back?
Is this what is stopping me customizing my hard disk icon?
If not what is stopping me?

Thanks for any help.
