For those concerned with menu bar real estate, or tired of looking at balloon help, or just aesthetics... Using Resedit, open up the MENUs resource in the System file and delete the one with ID -16490. Presto! No more Balloon Help! And even Superclock saunters over nicely to occupy that space. So far this hasn't caused me any problems, your mileage may vary... By the way, I'm no expert on these things, so do this at your own risk (any *real* experts care to comment?) Obviously you have not needed that real estate yet, because if you did the balloon help icon hides itself. So what is the problem? I like having system supported help. I will like it a lot more when applications start putting their help commands there and then I won't have to guess, "Is it in the Apple Menu?", "Is it in the File Menu?", "How about the Special Menu?". One place for help all the time every time, I like it. Pete -- Pete Hoch | ..somewhere..!kodak!ssd!bashow!ph ..or.. Color Systems ISPD. 3/65/RL | ph@ekcolorlink.ssd.kodak.com ..or.. When I don't understand something, instead of picking up a manual, I like selecting Help from Pagemaker, or Word, or any program that has a help option for that matter. And someday soon, nearly all our programs will have their Help options in the HELP MENU. - Chris =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Chris Silverberg INTERNET: macman@wpi.wpi.edu Worcester Polytechnic Institute Main Street USA 508-832-7725 (sysop) America Online: TfChris WMUG BBS 508-832-5844 (sysop)
