In some ways the Make Alias command seems a little brain damaged. It always creates an alias in the same folder as the original file. That is NEVER where you want to put it! And because of this behavior, it has to add the word "alias" to avoid a naming conflict. To me the italics are a sufficient indicator. What would be better would be to create an alias directly in another folder. One possible method would be to hold down the command and option keys and drag the original to the new folder. And it would not add "alias" to the end. Is there a way to do this now? Or does someone have other implementation ideas? BTW, I tried editing the Finder resource with the "alias" word in it, and the Finder then refused to start up again. I wanted to change it to an option-space. Has anyone tried this?
