I discovered that ATM does not work under 32-bit mode in System 7.0. The two programs where it has caused problems are Word 4.00D and Pagemaker 4.01. In both instances the system did _not_ crash, but the application quit with a message to the effect that "application 'unknown' quit unexpectedly with a type-1 error" when opening a file that utilized Type 1 PostScript fonts. When I set my Mac back to 24-bit, I have no problems at all. I checked this out on Compu$erve last evening, and Adobe acknowledges this problem. An update that will be 32-bit compatable will be out this summer. At first I thought I had a different init compatable problem. I finally took every last cdev or init out of my system and then started to stick them back in (the usual routine). When I realized that it was ATM that was causing the problem, I tossed every one of my inits and cdevs back in the system folder and my machine has been happy ever since. The hardware is a Mac IIci, 8 megs, Technology Works Cache card, and the usual and unusual inits, etc. This is the only problem I have found so far after having switched to System 7.0. -- X-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-X X David Baird xdab@midway.uchicago.edu X X University of Chicago d-baird@uchicago.edu X X University Computing Organizations (312) 702-7161 X
