Is it just me or does System 7 have trouble with low memory situations? Case-in-point: I have 5 megs and was running without virtual memory. The memory was full with applications. I tried to print a Word document with truetype fonts in it to a laserwriter. The document printed fine, but when it finished, my finder icons were trashed--most of them looked like just the mask was there. I have had other situations (with and without VM turned on) where the free memory is close to nothing and where weird things happen. A co-worker agrees with me. Does anyone else have these problems? Does anyone else care? Now I know someone is going to tell me to get more memory or use more virtual, but shouldn't the system be able to check and see if there is enough memory to perform some operation before it trashes something and give me the option to change things?
