I have a simple question: How do I alter the format of the date displayed by the Finder when viewing by Name, Size, Kind, etc. ? It currently reads "Mon, Jun 20, 1991, 3:03 PM". I want it to read "6/20/91, 3:03 PM" or something similarly short. I tried diddling the FVAL resource in the Finder, to no avail. Please reply via e-mail (if you can't get to me via e-mail, don't sweat it, I'm sure someone will have :-). If enough people tell me they, too, want to know the answer, I'll post a follow-up. Thanks! -- David C. Tuttle dct@odin.mda.uth.tmc.edu Software Systems Specialist Department of Biomathematics University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Houston, Texas

Thanks to "the brooding side of madness <V113PX6J@ubvmsc.cc.buffalo.edu>" for pointing me to the FVAL resource in the Finder Preferences file (I was looking at the FVAL's in the Finder itself). Changed the date format value frokm 2 to 0. That did the trick! I was also pointed to the finder_7.0_templates file in the tech directory of the Info-Mac Archives, which I'll get when I can get a connection. -- David C.
