I have had a few calls and questions from people on campus about renaming their hard drives under system 7.0. I told them it should be the same as before but they told me that they couldn't. So I tried it. I can't change my HD name either. A brave user changed it with a yet unnamed utility and now the system will not recognize the hard drive at all (even when booting from "emergency" floppy. I figured that this had something to do with file sharing and is related to the "can't eject Syquest or CD disks" problems. My Apple Rep "expert?" knows nothing about this so I will call the 800 line soon. Is there someone who knows why this is so? Ok, I am new om Mac, so it can be a *stupid* question, but, I have access to a cx and a ci Macs. While in the ci I was able to change the disk icon, in the cx I am not! I think it works the same way for the disk names. Any of you can understand that? Ah! When I click Get Info... and click the name of the drive of the cx, I get something like !normaln.ame. Thanks, Geraldo (MindWeb)
