I have a question, which someone on the net, wiser than I, may have the answer to. Apple provide the functionality to add comments to files and applications, through the Get Info window. Many Authors and Publishers use this feature to include information for thier clients.. users use it to store information about a specific document etc. I have wondered for a long time, why Apple provide this functionality but make it so tacit. When I rebuild my desktop, all comments in all my files and applications is wiped clean. Why? And why not do something about NOT wiping the comments on a desktop rebuild. Is there perhaps a way to rebuild the desktop and retain the comments, that I'm missing here? It just strikes me a a bit of a strange option to have, if the information doesn't stick.. for example if I lock a file or change it's icon (system 7) then the information sticks when the desktop is rebuilt.
