I had a couple of replies - the summary was the "special" IIci 256K SIMMs
will work on all other Macs except the portable and IIfx (and of course
obsolete models before SIMMs were introduced).

From Noah Price <noah@apple.com>:

Sure, those are fine on any Mac (except the IIfx and Portable).

The reason they are used is that the IIci requires "fast-page mode"
which is readily available in 1 Mbit technology (i.e., 256K x 4 = 1 Meg
bits, and is thus 1 Mbit technology), but hard to come by in 256 Kbit
technology.

From barrey@xlnvax.novell.com (Barrey Jewall):
...no problems...

Thanks.
