Well, I would like to thank all who responded to my query about my boggy IIcx. It seems the most serious cause was having too many inits active at once. The most guilty seemed to be the init that makes the numlock and other lights on the extended board blink. A secondary cause was a very fragmented disk. One netter (I would give him credit, but I accidentally deleted the mail message from him) sent me a PD defragger that installs in the control panel and defrags the disk after a certain amount of activity. It works like a charm! Once again, thank you all very much! I closed my connection to the main fileserver (where my system folder originally) and things seem to be fine again. Strange...
