I have not completely followed the thread, but I think I can contribute a little information. In reply to one question I saw, yes, Steve Halls is Canadian (hence the new Canadian accent on the Moose). If you try to reach him from an internet address the correct domain format is: HALLS@sask.usask.ca The "retail" price of the Moose 3.0 is $39.95 not the old $20 which the author charged for direct sales. I have been in contact with him at this address and he states that: "v3.0 does have a very impressive Macintalk Rules editor however, which gives users COMPLETE control over how English text is translated into Phonemes. INTERNALLY, v3.0 has quite a few bug fixes, improvements and new abilities. Just as an example, MS Word 4 and Excel 2.2 use Non-Standard Menus, which Moose v2.3 couldn't speak. v3.0 is able to. For Color Macs, v2.3 had problems, fixed in v3.0. Even the Moose Proof DA, FKEYs, XCMDs have all had improvements and bug fixes. With v3.0 from Baseline, you'll get a printed manual." I have no connection with the author, other than being an enthusiatic user of his product. That little pop-up animated moose says hello to me each time I have to drag myself in for a late night on the keyboard, reminds me to stay awake if I slack off for 5 or 10 minutes and most useful of all, the Moose Proof function reads my text back to me out loud when my eyes are too blood shot to catch mistakes, but my ears still have some sanity left.
