I am having problems connecting an external SCSI
HD to a Mac. I would appreciate any advice or
pointers^.
The Equipment:
Mac IIci, 5MB RAM
Internal 40MB Quantum HD
External 20MB Jasmine HD
Latest System Software from Apple (6.0.5?)
The Problem:
All machines off. Connect Jasmine to external SCSI
port. Turn Jasmine on. Turn on Mac IIci. After
a brief power-up, "sad-mac" comes on the screen
with 0000000F<cr>00000001 underneath it.
What I've tried:
1. The new system is installed on the internal HD. I've trid
(uh, tried) starting off the Jasmine with a system installed
on there (with help from an old Mac II), but with same results.
2. The Jasmine is internally terminated. I've tried giving the
Jasmine a new SCSI ID #, anywhere from 0 to 6, but with no
result. The internal HD is always 0, and the Mac is 7.
3. If I plug in the Jasmine after the IIci has gone through its
startup routine, I cannot see it on the desktop, but I CAN see
it with programs like Apples HD SC Setup and SCSI Probe/Tools.
These tools, however, have not helped/been successful in updating
or mounting the Jasmine.
4. The Jasmine is fine with older Mac IIs.
Please EMAIL suggestions to johnston@portia.stanford.edu. Thank
you in advance for your help.
