Aside from the problems with the backup program in MacTools Deluxe
that have already been discussed, I've found several others. Whenever
I open the Optimizer's Help while Suitcase II is running, the machine
crashes. This is on an SE/30 with 6.0.5 and no inits under Finder. It
happens under MultiFinder with gobs of inits as well, but I narrowed
it down completely.
Also, I launched the Launcher with about 1600K of RAM under
MultiFinder free, and then launched Backup. When I tried to return to
the Launcher, the machine beeped and returned me to the Finder.
Launcher takes 448K RAM and Backup likes 1024K, so I assume that
Backup wasn't able to release its memory in time for Launcher to get
at it and the previous memory that Launcher had occupied had become
fragmented in the meantime. Kind of irritating though to be fair, the
same thing happens with SUM II and the Disk Clinic launcher. I suspect
that shell programs don't know how to gracefully handle low memory
situations, hence the beep and return to Finder.
