Having seen a couple of articles on SuperCard 1.5, I was curious about Silicon Beach's upgrade policy, but had been too lazy to ask... I'm sure, then, that everyone can guess what I received in the mail today... I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I haven't yet evaluated the contents, but it certainly looks pretty good. It is also reasonably substantial. As a bonus, there are lots of offers of other discount software for use with SuperCard (many also usable with HyperCard and Plus). In contrast, I'm rather disappointed with Symantec's policy regarding Think C. I don't have my Mac set up to read news, and don't have ftp access. If it weren't for notices here, and (finally) a mention in the Mac rags, I wouldn't even be aware that it had been upgraded beyond 4.0. It surely couldn't cost too much to just send a postcard out to registered users to ensure their awareness of the procedure for upgrading... And from Australia, sending $5 (or whatever it is for the upgrade disks) instantly doubles (at least) in the purchase of an internationally negotiable whatever---assuming the price isn't increased for international postage. I should also add that this isn't the first time Silicon Beach have sent me something for nothing; nor, hopefully, the last. Well done Silicon Beach!!! Tony Landells. Disclaimer: It would take an overactive imagination to even consider the possibility that I'm associated with either of these companies as other than a customer. There is no way I can guarantee what you will read in what I have written---I'm not trying to offend anyone or damage anyone's reputation: if you thought I was, it's your mistake.

Well, despite my desire to not offend anyone, I apparently have. I'm not pointing the finger at Symantec in particular, it's just that I'm impressed by Silicon Beaches support, I consider Think C to be comparable (in terms of price/power/etc.)---in fact I consider Think C to be a GREAT product---and I'm a touch disappointed that they don't appear to be covering every possibility to ensure that all their customers had the patches, or at least knew how to get them... Perhaps it's just wishful thinking. Tony Landells.
