Problem: One of 3 partitions on my HD can't be mounted: Symptoms: I was working on THINK C debugger. It bombed--it didn't go into macsbug but the debugger source window said so: it refused programmer's key interrupt so I rebooted. Kaboon! one of my partition, which Think C folder resided is gone. Setups: Jasmine 140, partitioned by bundled application DriveWare to 80Meg, 40Meg, and 20Meg. Of which 40Meg partition became unmountable. Diagnosis: Jasmine DriveWare found one new bad sector. SUM II Quickfix found corrupted directory info. Boot block and other attributes are normal. Tried Solution: First I tried manually mounting it via Jasmine CDEV and DriveWare. Both failed but neither crashed. It silently tried and silently failed. Then I tried Apple's Disk First Aid and faild with the message "unable to verify the status". Lastly I tried SUM II Quickfix and failed--I didn't install Shiled INIT due to speed and disk space and it couldn't recover directory info without it. Then I tried Recovery and it found all files and directory except Desktop as long as I can recall. Okay, Now here's my questions: I can recover all files via SUM II but I don't want to do so if there's a way to fix it: All files remained intact except the partition became unable to be mounted. It takes too much time to retrieve all 40 Megs of files (it was only 5% free), reinitialize the partition and reinstall files (Besides I don't have enough floppies to buffer and all other partitions are full). Is there any possible solutions you respected netters know? I need you help, and of course, I need my partition back! One of my question WAS that if Norton Utilities had capability of fixing my problem--one of my friends has a beta version. But that solution seems to have been dead according to the following article: In article <gaccSeC00Uh_A2IGl7@andrew.cmu.edu>, rk39+@andrew.cmu.edu (Robert Joseph Kuszewski) said: > > >According to this week's issue of InfoWorld, Norton Utilities for the >Macintosh will NEVER be released. It was scheduled for release this >summer, but will never find it's way to shelves because SYMANTEC bought >out Norton Utilities corp. The article went on to say that the "best >features" of Norton Utils for the Mac will be integrated into the next >release of SUM. > >Bob > >PS: It might amuse you to know that the new version of Norton Utilities >for the PC has been delayed because SYMANTEC marketing didn't like the >way the package looked. ... And people wonder why I don't like >SYMANTEC... Any solutions? HELP! Post here or mail me to the following address.
