There seems to be a lot of interest brewing on this subject, so lets start the ball rolling. We have been using MacX (version 1.0) for about three weeks now. We never got the beta version to work properly. So far our results look like this: 1) As a terminal emulator it seems to be fairly robust, but it is a big memory hog. NCSA Telnet does the same job with less overhead. 2) It doesn't have any mechanism for transferring files from the host to the Macintosh. We still use NCSA Telnet's ftp capability for that. 3) Most of the graphics orientated software we have on our HP host works fine. It seems to be a thorough implementation of X11 R3. Admittedly we don't use much of X's graphics capability, so MacX is under utilized. We need file transfer capability and terminal emulation. With the memory problems of MacX we will probably continue using NCSA telnet for now. -- Steve Martin | Nothing I say can be held against U S West Marketing Resources Group | Me or my employer!
