[comp.sys.mac.misc] Mac Plus price lowered, is this the beginning of the end??

nolan@tssi.UUCP (Michael Nolan) (07/26/90)

In all the hoopla about educational prices, and in trade press articles
about the Mac IIci price cut, did anybody notice that Apple cut the price
of the Mac Plus by about $200 (dealer cost), from $1069 to 753.

Does this mean Apple is running a fire sale on Plusses as a prelude to
*finally* introducing a low-cost entry level Mac? Does this mean that
the Plus is about to go the route of the Mac II, into oblivion?

(Notice that Ashton-Tate, which lowered prices on dBase Mac to $99, has now
sold that product to another company, New Era Software. That *was* a fire
sale, apparently.)
