[comp.sys.mac.misc] Haven't MAC screens always been >= VGA ?

18215MES@MSU.BITNET (07/25/90)

Trying to sell an IBMer on the MAC he asked 'well can it
display in VGA graphic mode' or some such qyestion. I told him
that all macs - even the mac plus - are the equivalent of VGA,
with it's square pixels... the MAC has always had square pixels!

Am I right ?

Thanks ..  :)

All macs have square pixels, but I think the minimum for
VGA is 320x200x256 or 640x400x16.

I think the Mac XL's didn't have square pixels. But then, they didn't
start out as Macs.

  Well, the Lisas weren't square, iff I recall correctly. Part of the
conversion to a Mac XL was a mod to the video to make the pixels square.
Even then, you got a > 9" screen.
