[comp.sys.mac.misc] keyboard equivs for vt100

TMARX@auvm.auvm.edu (07/26/90)

help! I'm new to all this and I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place. I
f so, just send me a mild rebuff. I'm using Quicklink II on my Mac SE and have
trouble with emulating the VT100 keyboard of AU's mainframe CMS system. I espec
ially need to know how to clear the screen (clear on vt100) and the PF key equi
valents other than PF1-4. Others must have the same problem. Is it just lousy s
oftware, do I need to get a new keyboard that I can't afford? Hope this was an
appropriate message and thanks for any help.

A vt100 keyboard doesn't have any PF keys other than PF1-PF4, although it
also has F5-F20. I suspect there may be another layer of emulation going
on in your situation, e.g., a vt100 keyboard emulating an IBM 3270(?)
keyboard. Better talk to some mainframe gurus.
