[comp.sys.mac.misc] FullWrite fire sale

forbes@sp11.csrd.uiuc.edu (Michael Scott Forbes) (07/27/90)

Yesterday I received a catalog in the mail from MacWarehouse
with a full page ad selling FullWrite Professional for $55.
The ad says this is a limited time offer while supplies last.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is Ashton-Tate pulling the plug
on FullWrite, or just giving a huge volume discount to MacWarehouse?

Also, should I buy this program? I've heard a lot of good things about it,
but I've also heard it is slow and memory-hungry. I'm using a Mac SE with
2.5MB RAM and a 20MB hard drive.

I called MacConnection yesterday and they offer both FullWRite Pro 1.xand Full
Impact 1.x for $65, while supplies last. This is a better deal. I also called
A-T and they will want $50 to upgrade Full Impact to 2.0. They had no official
word on when or what the FullWrite Pro upgrade is/will be.

Hope this helps. The choice is yours.

I use FullWrite with a Mac Plus and 4Meg (although it only gets 2Meg under
Multifinder, which is the only way I use it). It is slow. It is a memory
hog. It is also the best word processor I have ever seen on any machine,
despite these (important) deficiencies. I will not use anything else for
my writing (mostly physics papers). I recommend it highly, but you'd better
test it yourself to see how important the speed is for you.

MacConnection is now selling it for $39. This is a great price for a
fantastic program, I use it all the time and I love it!!
