I had some questions about TeachText documents earlier, which are not stated very clearly. Here's the old message: >I found that there are two types of TeachText documents. TeachText 1.2 saves >documents of type TEXT, which can not open the original application when >clicked on. The document of type ttro can open TeachText when clicked on. >(TEXT and ttro documents have different icons, both of these icons are >originated from TeachText, i.e., in the ICN# resource in TeachText.) >Question: >1. How to save a ttro document in TeachText? >2. How to open the TEXT document without hacking (i.e., change it to ttro)? Clarification: TeachText may own two kind of documents, one of the type TEXT and creator ttxt, another of the type ttro and creator ttxt. Now clicking on the first kind of documnent somehow does not open TeachText even the creator is ttxt, while clicking on the second one does. Now the questions, 1. How to save a ttro(ttxt) document in TeachText? 2. How to open TeachText by clicking on the TEXT(ttxt) document without using Resedit or else to change the file type? 3. Why should there be two types of documents owned by Teachtext anyway? Thanks. Y.Chen

Now clicking on the first >kind of documnent somehow does not open TeachText even the creator is ttxt, >while clicking on the second one does. Now the questions, I can't help you. Something's broken, 'cause on my machine, double-clicking on a type TEXT and creator ttxt fires teachtext right up. >1. How to save a ttro(ttxt) document in TeachText? I don't know. I use ResEdit. ttro probably stands for teach text read only, 'cause you can't edit those documents, only look at them. >2. Why should there be two types of documents owned by Teachtext anyway? One for read-only documents, one for documents you can edit with teachtext. Seemed obvious to me... >Thanks. Y.Chen 'welcome. Sorry I can't be more help with your first problems. Suggestions: do you have more than one copy of teachtext on your drive? I'd have only one. If teachtext is already open, it can't open another document. So the finder gives you a message like "open that document from within teachtext".
