[comp.sys.mac.misc] @freshstart strangeness

generous@alxfac.UUCP (Curtis Generous) (08/07/90)

By accident, the name of my startup internal hard disk was modified. I had
not noticed this fact right away. The next time I tried to reboot the
machine, after loading up all of the init's, the machine just locked-up,
with the top menu bar flashing on and off.

Nothing I did fixed the problem. I reloaded the system, disabled all the
inits (execpt for freshstart :-(), but still no luck.
It took quite a few tries at rebooting before noticing the new hard disk
name. Once I changed it back to the original name, all started working again.
Is this 'feature' normal behaviour? How could I have gotten around this
problem, and does this mean I can never change the name of my start-up device?
