[comp.sys.mac.misc] Articles on Object Oriented Programming on the Mac.

czychi@ethz.UUCP (Gary Czychi) (07/31/90)

I just tried to look for mac related newspaper articles about object
oriented programming in old issues of macuser which was suggested by erik
johnson (johnsone@uxh.cso.uiuc.edu) in his article dated july 17th. i looked
into the tables of contents of all macuser issues starting in 1988, but i
had no luck, mainly because the contentsre presented so chaotic.

So, I'm asking the net if:

 a) somebody can send me more information on where I can find articles on
OOP
 b) there is a summary of all MacUser or Macworld articles somewhere. I
heard
that there should be a HyperCard stack at Compuserve.

Thanks a lot,

Gary

You might try MacTutor magazine (especially one of the volumes of collected
articles that they publish). There was a special issue on MacApp in
December 1986, and they've published several articles aout OOP since then.
Most recently, they have had a series of columns on C++.

I know MacWorld has had articles on OOP (I don't know about MacUsers), but
these are mostly descriptions of what it is, with very little technical
content.

I have written quite a few articles on object-oriented technology
(e.g., object-oriented design, object-oriented requirements analysis,
object-oriented domain analysis, motivation for object-oriented
approaches, origins of object-oriented technology, and reading list for
object-oriented technology). All the articles contain extensive
bibliographies. (Each of these articles has previously appeared in
various newsgroups, e.g., comp.object, comp.lang.c++, comp.software-eng.)

I have tried to respond to the original poster (Gary Czychi), but my mail
bounced. If he, or anyone else, is interested I could send you all 11
articles. However, if the demand is large enough, I could post them
to some designated newsgroup.

Yes, Develop is available from Develop, PO Box 531, Mt. Morris,
IL, 61054. Fax orders to 619-485-5547. You may e-mail inquiries
to DEV.SUBS@applelink.apple.com, or call 800-443-9637 (outside CA)
or 800-331-4164 (in CA). Subscriptions are $30 per year, for 4 issues.

A CD-ROM disk is included in all issues. Very civilized, if I might say.
