Since I obtained Giffer 1.06, I've been having great fun looking at nifty color pictures. I noticed you can save the gif pictures into the res id=0 pict format, i.e. a PICT resource which can then be pasted into the StartupScreen's PICT resource, thus giving you your favorite picture as a startupscreen. However, when doing this I loose a great deal of color resolution. The original picture was done in 256 colors, but the PICT lookes like 16 colors. Why have I lost resolution in this process? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. -- thomas willett Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta gt4586c@prism.gatech.edu "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." - Salvor Hardin (Foundation)

Startupscreens use the system CLUT, so if the picture was originally done in some other CLUT (for instance an earth tone or flesh tone or greyscale CLUT) you will lose a lot of information. -- Matthew T.
