I have a problem using Telnet (2.2) and ftp to move large (>100k) files from unix systems to my mac plus (finder 6.1, sys 6.0.3, 2meg, apple 20M HD). We use Telnet over the Appletalk to connect to the various Sun computers in our department (also vaxes and ATTs about campus); I don't know how the hardware works. When I move large binary Stuffit files from the mainframes to my mac plus (I use binary transfer mode) the files are corrupted so that Stuffit complains about invalid headers and EOF errors. (I.e., the file gets trashed in a way yet determined.) If I do the same transfer to a Mac II, I have no problem however. I cannot explain this and thought I had once seen a thread on the net discussing this problem. If anyone has any insight or suggestions I would appreciate hearing from you. Please respond directly to me and I'll summarize to the net if there is interest. Thanks in advance, Happy Mac'ing john c. swartz jcs@physics.phy.duke.edu -- John C.
