[comp.sys.mac.misc] Mac Plus Accelerators - 8megs?

derosa@motcid.UUCP (John DeRosa) (08/15/90)

I am in the market for a Mac Plus accelerator
that takes this old workhorse up to 68030.

I have read the recent articles in the Mac
magazines and this is one question that
eludes me......can any accelerator for the
Mac Plus access more that 4 megs (i.e. 8megs)?

Nothing's impossible, I guess; but the Mac Plus ROMs start at 0x400000
(4 Meg to humans), so unless the accelerator includes a new ROM set
(highly unlikely) you'll have a hard time exploiting more than 4Mb.

That's not to say there isn't some hack to do the job, but don't expect
any Microsoft products to run :-)
