What with all the bashing that has gone on towards poor customer service provided by various hardware/software providers, I thought I'd relate a recent pleasant experience: I have a Kensington ADB Turbo Mouse (trackball) on my Mac+. It is LONG out of warranty. It has two buttons; one is the normal mouse down button - the other is a "mouse down and hold button", one click to mouse down, another to mouse up. The microswitch under the normal mousedown button broke. I opened up the trackball and swapped the working microswitch (from the other button) with the failed one to determine if that was indeed the problem, and it was. Here comes the good stuff: After trying, with no success) to find a replacement microswitch locally, I called Kensington customer service, explained the problem, and asked if I could purchase the switch directly from them, saving a larger repair bill. They took my name and address, and then sent me AT NO CHARGE 2 (yes TWO) replacement switches, which arrived two days later. My trackball is now working properly and I am one happy camper and satisfied Kensington customer. I have no affiliation with Kensington other than owning one of their products; your mileage may vary..... .....rob coben, currently contracting to AT&T Bell Labs, reachable at rob@homxc.att.com
