[comp.sys.mac.misc] Backing up a hard disk.

mcgrawg@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu (Gary McGraw) (08/30/90)

Here at our center we have two mac II's connected via nodem to a
Sun ethernet network. We are currently running telnet software which
allows ftp commands from the mac to the net. My question to
all of you mac-type people is: Is there some software available
that we can use to backup our harddisk with?

There are two possible ways to do backups. One would be to transfer
files to the Sun server and use the tape drive there to make a
binary image. The other would be to get a program that allows
backups to be made quickly and painlessly to floppy (something
like Fastback for IBM's). Can any of you give me advice? I am
somewhat of a mac neophyte so keep that in mind.

Thanks in advance for you help.
