[comp.sys.mac.misc] SCSI Controller - drive mech woes.

gjh@hplb.hpl.hp.com (Graham Higgins) (09/11/90)

I'm posting this for a friend who doesn't have usenet write access.

Kit: Mac Plus + Omti 3527A (Rev B) controller + Tandon TM262 HD.

This is an additional HD, there is an existing 80Mb drive which is fine.

This additional drive has been formatted (& verified) and initialised but the
OS appears not to be able to write to the disk. On investigation, the s/w
(scsiprobe, sf&i, etc.) reports the number of cylinders as being severely
reduced from what would be expected (~300 as opposed to ~600). There's only one
jumper on the mech, which is Logical Unit Number (set to 0). There are a number
of jumpers on the controller card, only some of which are identified on the
leaflet which accompanied the card.

1. Any suggestions as to why the system sees the wrong number of cylinders?

2. Can anyone supply the address & phone no. for SMS (mfrs of Omti controller
   cards).

Much obliged.
