[comp.sys.mac.misc] Call Waiting

denbeste@bgsuvax.UUCP (William C. DenBesten) (09/18/90)

The need to disable call waiting is periodically discussed in
comp.dcom.telecom. The general concensus is that there is no
universal way of disabling call waiting.

There are four ways that I can come up with to deal with this:
 1) *70 followed by the phone number.
 2) Call your local phone company and see if they have a 'custom' way to do it.
 3) Forward your calls to a answering machine at your office.
 4) Get rid of call waiting.

Personally, I think that call waiting is rude, so I opted for #4.

This would disable call waiting for the host computer's modem line. I'm
sure that the system administrator does not suscribe to call waiting.
The only real solution to this problem would be #3 or #4.
