A friend of mine is considering buying an HP Deskwriter and asks, ``What is needed to make this printer useful?'' If you take a plain, vanilla MacPlus and plug in a deskwriter, what can you do? Does the deskwriter come with any high resolution fonts? Do you have to obtain 300dpi bitmaps for the usual apple fonts, e.g., New York, Geneva, Helvetica, etc.? What does it do with the various odd fonts that are floating around, e.g., Venice, Mobile, San Fransisco, etc. Does one need to get special bitmaps for these? I know that atm would help . . . but how much? Does atm come with any fonts? Would one have to get atm *and* buy a bunch of adobe fonts? What is the minimal needed beyond the Deskwriter itself to decent word processing?
