I'm pretty close to going out to get an HP Laserjet IIP to go with my Mac SE, and no salesdroids have the information I need, really. The IIP seems to do what I want: QuickDraw (for now), upgrades to Postscript when I get the money, and fairly inexpensive. I have some questions, though: 1. What do I need to make the IIP work with the SE? I believe that the Appletalk interface for the IIP is a reasonable direction to go, but do I also need an Appletalk interface for the SE? (That tells you about how much I know about this....) If so, where does IT go? Does the Appletalk interface for the IIP make the IIP look like a "generic QuickDraw printer" to the Mac? Does the Appletalk interface need more memory than the standard IIP provides? 2. How does Adobe Type Manager do with the IIP? Is it reasonable to use a IIP and ATM to squeak by until/unless I start doing serious graphics? By then I guess I'd head in the direction of the Postscript cartridge (and the extra memory at that time). 3. Where does "MacPrint" fit into this? Is that a software package that makes it possible to use a IIP without an Appletalk interface, or what? One salesdroid seemed pretty unhappy with "MacPrint". Any advice is welcome.
