[comp.sys.mac.misc] How do I read a lost WriteNow file

jem@sm.luth.se (Jan Erik Mostr|m) (10/01/90)

I need some information on how to read lost files created with WriteNow.

I am responsible for a number of Macs at our department. Occasionally
someone loses a file (corrupt disk etc. etc.). I use SUM to recover the
files and then comes the problem. How do I read a WriteNow file ???.
I can set the CREATOR and TYPE so that WriteNow thinks it's a normal
file, but when I try to read the file WriteNow bombs. I try to set TYPE
to TEXT and then uses to Nisus to read the file. When the file comes up
there are a lot of hidden characters (I can remove them easily) but the
TEXT is mixed and copied and ... i.e. I can't use it since I haven't got the
time to search through all this text to find the latest version of a
certain paragraph.

What is the best way to read a lost WriteNow file that have been
recovered.
