Thanks to all who replied to my posting! Many people wrote to say they do NOT have any problems with Boomerang 2.0. For those of you having trouble with it, one person pointed out that a corrupted prefs file can cause Boomerang to be flakey. Based on the many encouraging words, I tried again and found turning off "keep code in system heap" made Vellum work! I'm not sure about Qued at this point (it also seems to be working, but the problem was intermittant) but I won't let that stop me from using it and sending in my money! Boomerang 2.1 is not shareware, and is only sent to registered users of 2.0. Also, Boomerang is going to become part of Now Utilities. I hope we will still be able to obtain updates without buying a bunch of other utilities. Dana Keil (dana@are.berkeley.edu) sent the following about version 2.1 (thanks Dana!): (quote) What's new in Boomerang 2.1. 1. DirectOpen menu [this is my personal favorite improvement]. The file list appears as a popout hierarchical menu at the open item of the file menu. Bypasses the open dialog box altogether! 2. Mouseless menu, all Boomerang's menus in the dialog box can be accessed using arrow keys. 3. Default folders. folder is set to the last folder you used or your favorite folder when you open an application instead of the application's folder. 4. WhereIs. You can specify the modification date and volumes & folders to search files on. 5. Group change in the SF Dialog. 6. Boomerang remembers any files you open 7. System 7 compatible 8. Apparently it will work with Deluxe archives, and will be more multifinder-friendly than 1.51. Thanks all. The response was overwhelming, and very much appreciated. Boomerang was too useful to trash it without asking about it, and I'm very glad I did! Russell Owen owen@raven.phys.washington.edu Astronomy Dept. FM-20 University of Washington Seattle, WA 98195
