[comp.sys.mac.misc] Mac!Direct!

ph1c+@andrew.cmu.edu (Peter Nikitas Handrinos) (10/05/90)

I know this may not be the right bboard to post to, but I just wanted to
make people aware of a bunch of bad incidents I had with a company
called Mac!Direct!

I originally asked for a Quantum 170meg hard drive from this place
because I was in a hurry and needed a drive. I called and placed an
order, and was willing to pay extra to have it here the next day. I
gave them a credit card number and explained to them that there may be
problems clearing it. He said ok and supposedly cleared it. I wait two
days and nothing. I call back, and they say the credit card didn't
clear! Didn't he say originally that it was taken care of. Fine I got
the drive four days late. I use it for a week, and then CRASH! I call
them up and they say they are going to send me another one, the next day!

I wait. Nothing! So I call them, and who knows what BS they throw my
way, and they say tomorrow. I wait, I wait, and call them again. This
time, the factory was broken into and my drive was stolen! More BS,
more BS, and then I finally get a hold of the next drive a week later.

The next day, I check some prices and see that I could have bought the
same drive from Club Mac for $60 less!!! Since they had a 30 day money
back guarantee I will send it back to them and get it from Club Mac.
Escpecially since they never once mentioned restocking charge. I looked
everywhere!

I called the company and the man said that they would charge a usual 10
or 15% restocking fee, so it wouldn't make sense for me to send it back.
I expressed the fact that no stocking fee was ever mentioned, but he
said it was assumed.

I think this is BS and will never order anything from them again. I
encourage everyone to consider buying from this place.

Sorry for the long tirade, I am just really fed up with them, and don't
want to see other people getting burned!
