[comp.sys.mac.misc] File Paths to Clipboard & A summary

hallett@enterprise.positron.gemed.ge.com (Jeff Hallett x5163 ) (10/09/90)

Hi folks.

I was wondering if there is an FKEY or DA or something that will allow
one to select a file (either via an SFGetFile box or just look at a
selected icon in the Finder) and put the MacOS path name to the
clipboard?

Also, I asked for a procedure, in Freehand 2.0 to fill a text string
with an arbitrary pattern as if the string were a window onto the
pattern (ie. using the string as a clipping region). The procedure is
simple, sorta. You need to first trace the character to get a closed
path. Then, you create an object with the pattern you desire and
position it over the text paths that you would like to fill. You then
cut the object, select each character path in the string in turn and
"Paste Inside". This will cause the character path to become a
clipping region on the pattern. If the character path has a blocked
out area (like the center of an 'o', you must fill the center with
white (or whatever)). Works great and is described in detail in the
Freehand manual (I've been told that you can get character outlines as
PostScript objects in the yet-to-be-released version 3.0).

Take care,
