[comp.sys.mac.misc] System 6.0.7 and .image files

parker@cs.wvu.wvnet.edu (James Parker) (10/19/90)

Yo, Net!!

I just FTP'd 6.0.7, debinhexed it, unstuffed it, and now i am stuck with
four files that have a .image suffix attached to 'em. The file type and
creator I'm not familiar with.

Question: What do I do with these image files??????

You need DiskCopy from the very same place. BTW, I think it is
	a very good program.

From apple.com, you need to ftp a file called:

diskcopy-4-1.hqx

This will un-binhex into an application that will read in these image files
and write them to floppies, creating exact duplicates of the Apple distribution
disks.

I understand that this program is used at the Apple factory to duplicate the
actual distribution disks.

Run a program (which should also be FTPable) called "DiskCopy". It copies
the images onto your diskette. Note that it also formats the diskette, so
you don't have to insert a previously formatted diskette. If you're going to
load 1.44mb images, you'll need to do a cmd-i to set the multifinder partition
to > 1440 (I use 1500).

These files are diskmaker 4.1 image files. The diskmaker application
is stored in the same directory on apple.com as the system software.
