I know that there is a way to display a hidden picture that is contained in the ROMs of various Macintosh's. How to do this on a IIci is shown in an accompanying article. I know that it can be done in an SE by using the monitor. You end up getting a slide show of three pictures. Does anyone remember how exactly to do this? Are there similar pictures within the other Macintosh's in the product family? BTW, the inside of the Mac Plus (and possibly earlier units) contains the signatures of all the people involved in the production of this Mac. They are part of the mold for the case and can be seen if you crack the case and look inside. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = John DeRosa, Motorola, Inc, Cellular Infrastructure Division = = e-mail: ...uunet!motcid!derosaj = = motcid!derosaj@uunet.uu.net = = Applelink: N1111 = = I do not hold by employer responsible for any information in this message = = nor am I responsible for anything my employer may do or say. = =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

To see the pictures on the SE: Hit the interrupt button on the programmers' switch, which will drop you into the ROM debugger. Then type: G 41D89A + --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- + >-- -- -- ---- The Fiend -- Ronald C. How about hidden picture in early MacDraw or MacWrite II's? I haven't seen it but a local Mac pro says hold down space-tab-shift and select "About". -- Brian Aslakson aslakson@cs.umn.edu mac-admin@cs.umn.edu <-= Macintosh related

A related thing, though not exactly a picture...take WriteNow, bring up the about-box, and option-click in it. It gives you a cute list of acknowledgements...very pretty. It's here, but apparently Apple caught it before many shipped. Also, you don't need the space (Mac the Knife said you did, but was wrong for once)

I don't know how well this is known, but here goes... In the Mac SE and SE/30 machines you can get to a slide show of the developers using these steps: push the programmer's interrupt switch (the one in the back) at the ">" prompt type: G 41D89A <return> Sit back and enjoy the slide show. The pictures will continue to display in a round-robin order until you restart your Mac. Therefore, make sure you've saved whatever you're doing before you try this.
