[comp.sys.mac.misc] Unix on a Max - AU/X information wanted

moorej@cps3xx.uucp (Jeffrey R Moore) (10/23/90)

Does anyone actually use AU/X? I live in a mac-dead area, and have
never seen or heard of anyone doing this. My employer uses XENIX and
loves it, but bought a mac for DTP. He would like to be able to send
documents from his AT compatable running XENIX to the laserwriter. Is
there an easy way to do this? He also would rather be running Unix on
his Mac, but worries about his mac applications bombing under AU/X.
Especially Interleaf (a program about as graceful as a bloated
elephant). Not even the Mac dealer here can tell him anything about
AU/X. Does anyone have any experience with it that they would like to
share? Especially running interleaf?

I am not sure why he wanted to hire a mac person (Me!) to run interleaf,
when the program does not conform to any part of the macintosh
interface. May a thousand human interface police descend on whoever
publishes interleaf and ... well I'd best end this posting before it
degenerates into an interleaf flame (too late).

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
