[comp.sys.mac.misc] Public Domain Software

scott@ecn.purdue.edu (Scott Kell) (10/24/90)

Hi,
I'm debating between buying a MacIIsi or an Amiga 3000. What the Amiga 3000
lacks in commercial software, it makes up for with public domain software.
In fact, there's several FTP sites which, if I understand correctly, lots of
quality public domain software can be downloaded. I'm curious if there is
such a public domain software base available for the Mac's. And, if so,
are there similar FTP sites for the Macs as there is for the Amigas? Any
information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Scott Kell (scott@ei.ecn.purdue.edu)

Woops! The archive computer is quiche.cs.mcgill.ca, not archie.cs.mcgill.edu.
The login is still archie. So the new (correct) command is
rlogin quiche.cs.mcgill.ca -l archie

Sorry about that to all those who got 'unknown host' errors!
