---------------------------------------------------------------------- We may find it difficult to believe that other people's thoughts are as silly as our own, but they probably are. -- James Harvey Robinson ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is just to announce that the most recent version of TappyType (V 1.36) is now available. You can download it from the SUMEX archive, or I can e-mail it to you if you e-mail a request to me. The changes from V 1.3 are mostly cosmetic, although I did add some more robust error-checking. This Christmas, I may be able to record some more sounds to put in the next version. (A friend of mine is currently building his own sound-digitizer.) To those of you who read the October issue of Mac User, I wish to correct a misleading statement they made about TappyType. TappyType WILL work with Suitcase II if you use TappyType as it is shipped: with a space as the first character. This ensures that Suitcase is loaded and initialized after TappyType at startup time, which mysteriously cures the problem. (With System 7.0, Suitcase II may be obsolete anyway, so I haven't been too concerned about this odd incompatibility.) Also, somebody recently pointed out to me that TappyType doesn't work in Microsoft Excel. It doesn't bomb, it just doesn't work. Using a debugger, this gentleman discovered that Excel is doing some pretty peculiar trap-patching and event filtering, so I do not feel the slightest bit guilty. As always, I want to encourage everyone who's used this silly product of mine to pass on your comments to me. In particular, if you discover bugs or incompatibilities, I STRONGLY encourage you to tell me, since that's the only way I know about them. Lavish praise is welcome also.
