If I recall correctly, Apple just licensed their ROM technology to Outbound. Does anyone know the details of that agreement? As I understand it the Outbound machine works by transplanting Mac SE ROMs into the Outbound unit. What is Outbound going to do now that the SE is defunct? In the recent MacWeek, Mac the Knife notes that Outbound engineers found the ROM disk in the Mac Classic ROMS, and wonders why they were snooping around in them. I wonder if Outbound was snooping in the Mac IIsi ROMs. It seems like perfect way to go, since the IIsi ROMs are on a SIMM anyway. That way you could also dock the Outbound to something more powerful that a Classic/SE. I know that the IIsi ROMs are for an '030 machine and that the Outbound is a 68000 machine and that this probably wouldn't work, but with the new license from Apple, it seems like something could be worked out. Does anybody know? Does anybody care?
