[comp.sys.mac.misc] Working with pict2 files

jacobson@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu (10/30/90)

I am trying to take a photo scanned in applescan and saved as a pict file (
(a pict2 file) and covert into a GIF file that retains all the original
gray scale quality. All my programs, Superpaint 2.0, and several GIF
converters, and other paint programs all seem to read the pict2 file in but
strip out much of the quality resolution of the original gray scale scan.
Is there any program that will allow me to manipulate this image and
convert it for non mac machines that can read paint and GIF files without
much or any loss of resolution??? I have GIFconvertor and it does the same
as Superpaint 2.0. So far the only thing that I can even load the full
pict2 file into is the original applescan program.
