I purchased a program, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, from MacWarehouse last week. I locked the master disk and backed it up twice. I put the master and the first backup away, and played with the second backup. (more precisely, the person I bought the program for played with the second backup.) After she used it for a few hours, she was told she wasn't using the original disk, and to please insert the original disk. She did this, and was told that it wasn't the original disk. So then she tried copying her files (the files that keep records of her progress) onto the first backup and tried again, with the same results. Only now, when she inserted the original disk, she was told that it wasn't the original disk. AND she got an error (74 or 72?) which I believe was due to trying to use the old progress files with a new copy. Whatever. In any case, we have since sent the program back and are waiting for a new copy, since we couldn't make it work for us. (The instructions were not very helpful; they didn't say that anything we were doing was wrong.) Could someone out there who is familiar with Software Toolworks copy protection please tell us what we did wrong, so that we can successfully use the program when we get a new copy? (The reason we mailed the copy back was that when we encountered the problem, it was too late in the day to call Software Toolworks, so we called MacWarehouse and they offered to send us a new copy. Perhaps we should have waited and called Software Toolworks, but this is what we already did, so it can't be changed now.) -Sonja -----------------------------Sonja Kueppers------------------------------ |SEK@PSUVM (bitnet) |USnail: Calder Square | |SEK@PSUVM.psu.edu | PO Box 10510 | |SEK%PSUVM@psuvax1.uucp | State College, PA 16805 | -------------------------------------------------------------------------
