In my earlier posting, I made a fatal error. It sounded like I needed info on
a system with a postscript printer for under $3000. Ooops... If I could get a
printer like that in that budget, I
d jump on it!
Clarification: The printer needed is dot matrix. All laser printing will be
done off site.
Here's a recap...
I'm looking for info on a Mac sytem for word processing and DTP. It's for a
friend who has only me for advice. I can steer her in pretty much the
direction of what will do the job, but don't know prices since I own another
machine (I know... Shudder the thought :)
The budget: $3000.00 for CPU, monitor, keyboard, 2 disks, hard drive and
printer.
The (hopeful) plan: To buy the hard drive, floppy and printer third party
(Avoiding those costly add-ons...)
My thoughts: A machine with at least a 68020. Either a Mac SE30 or the new LC.
Expandability is not much of an issue, except for (possibily) the ability to
add an accelerator card in the future.
Any suggestions, especially prices to look for, would be greatly appreciated!!
