OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! We should all be out of butane and gasoline and napalm by now. We have seen many, many, many, many different arguments for both side. We should all know that for $4000 you can't beat NeXT for a fast, BW computer that will kick anything else out of that price range. For $3000 you can get an 8-bit color (yes, I know, I know, there is color higher up in the price ranges, but I'm making a low end comparision here) Mac IIsi or for $5000 you can get a Mac IIci with 8-bit color. Now we all know that the NeXT has a bigger '40 chip and this and that, but the bottom line is how cheap can you get started for? Yes, I know big business makes and breaks machines, but how many of us are Fortune 500 companies? We are *users*. We buy one machine. I'm a *poor* college student. I would like to spend $4000 on a new NeXT or maybe $5561 for a NeXTstation Color, but *I CAN'T*! I will barely be able to afford the IIsi that I am after. What I am saying is that if you can afford it, get a spiffy NeXT. Right now! But *alot* of us can't. And if I couldn't afford $3000 for a IIsi, then I could spend $2300 on a SE/30 or $1300 for a Classic. That's the bottom line. The *average* user, not the superuser or the programmer or the system administrator, will be able to afford this. It's almost as affordable as an IBM clone, but not yet. So lets stop the war, okay? Let all Amiga, NeXT and Macintosh users live in harmony together. At the base of the computer, we all have one thing in common - the Motorola 680x0 series chip, which we all know is the *best* chip in *whatever* form or speed. Can there be a 680x0 glasnost now? Lets direct our energies toward something much more productive - like flaming IBM's (just kidding, I'm sick of *all* flames) or speaking of the glory of *all* 680x0 computers, not their shortcomings. Humans are not perfect, so how can our computers be perfect? If they were, I don't think *we'd* be running this discussion or the world! Motorola owners and users of the world, unite! Rise up against the pagan Intel CPUs and be worthy of the deeds of your forefathers!!! -- <insert stdpeace.h>
