I would like to know if anyone out there has seen any software package ( even in PUBLIC DOMAIN ) which allows one to display Images by techniques like dithering etc on the Macintosh Plus. What if one has a binary file which one would like to display on the MAC + ? What format must the matrix be written out in so as to display inside packages like MacPaint, etc. Any sugestions / information regarding this matter and valid image formats for the Macintosh would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. -- MULLICK,RAKESH Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 uucp: ...!{allegra,amd,hplabs,seismo,ut-ngp}!gatech!prism!gt3172a ARPA: gt3172a@prism.gatech.edu, rakesh@medinfo.gatech.edu

The only program I know that does this (displays/converts GIF and other such image formats on Mac Plus) is Vision Lab. I ahve V1.0d12DEMO dated 6/24/88, By John Raymonds, GENIE: RAYMONDS, Compuserve: 76174,205 (I think that's 76174.205@compuserve.com from the Internet). I don't see it on listserv/sumex, so I must have picked it up off a local BBS. It says it may be freely distributed, that it's a demo version with some features disabled (notably handling of TIFF files), but it does fine at converting GIF to/from MacPaint, and I think ,too, EPSF. Maybe you can email John for the latest? Suggest he post it to comp.binaries? Maybe there's a commercial version now? Does anyone know? -Drew Wade drew@objy.com
